The Society of Wine Educators’ Beverage Specialist Certificate is an entry-level program designed for students and professionals in the hospitality and culinary fields, as well as individuals looking to enter the wine, spirits, culinary, or hospitality industries. The program provides a broad base of product knowledge in the most commercially relevant beverages including wine, spirits, beer, sake, cider, coffee, and tea. The Beverage Specialist Certificate represents the Society of Wine Educators’ recognition that the holder has attained working knowledge about beverage products and the beverage industry, equivalent to a first-line supervisor or manager.

  • The Beverage Specialist Certificate is offered online as a self-paced, self-study program.
  • The course registration fee ($99) includes access to the Online Beverage Specialist Certificate Course for one full year as well as access to the final online exam.
  • FINAL EXAM: consists of eighty multiple-choice questions; a minimum score of 75% (the equivalent of 60 correct questions) is required to pass. Successful completion of the online exam will earn candidates the Beverage Specialist Certificate.
